Building Lines & Littles: A Love Letter to Motherhood, Creativity, and Community

Hi, I’m Catherine Gunarso — a calligrapher, mama, and the heart behind Lines & Littles. This is the story of how motherhood and creativity led me to start building something I wish existed.

After becoming a mom, I often found myself in a strange in-between space. I loved my little one deeply — but I also missed parts of myself. The creative part. The quiet part. The part that could sip coffee in peace, or connect with other women who just got it.

Motherhood is beautiful and life-changing… and also isolating, exhausting, and overwhelming. What I craved most wasn’t more advice or checklists. I just wanted a place to land. A space that felt like a warm hug. A place where I could just be — alongside my child, but also alongside myself.

That’s how Lines & Littles was born.

Why "Lines & Littles"?

The name came from two parts of my life that feel equally sacred.

“Lines” for the brushstrokes of calligraphy, the flow of creativity, and the winding path that led me here.

“Littles” for our babies and toddlers — the giggles, the tears, the mess, the wonder.

This space is about holding both. The mama and the maker. The kiddo and the creative. The one who’s pouring cereal with one hand and dreaming big dreams with the other.

What We’re Creating Together

Lines & Littles is a cozy art + play studio and mom-friendly café, opening soon in Marin County, California. But it’s not just a business — it’s a community project, a response to that ache so many of us feel but rarely say out loud.

Here, moms will be able to take a breath while their littles play nearby. There will be art classes, warm drinks, gentle gatherings, and space to just exist without pressure. Whether you’re a mom looking for connection, a local artist with a gift to share, or a friend who simply believes in what we’re building — there’s room for you here.

From Dream to Momentum

I started by whispering this dream to a few friends. And then something beautiful happened: the messages started pouring in.

Other moms. Local creatives. Women who had been quietly waiting for a space like this to exist. People told me, “I’ve been hoping for this exact thing. How can I help?”
